It has been a fun and great learning experience once again while trying to get 30 paintings done in 30 days. Also during the first month of school for my kids,soccer and for me to a chance to teach two afternoons a week. You know how life goes a balancing act. for me some days were better than others.
I am very prod of myself for all I did get done. Day 16 I had only painted 9 paintings. I have finished out with 27.  On top of that I am very pleased with sales that I have had.

This piece here I went for a softer watercolor type effect. It is on a basswood panel and ready for display.

Bee-Lieve More Paintings for 30 in 30

Bee-live with this a little buzz from this Bee. I really enjoyed working with the bright yellows and caramels for this piece. It is so cloudy and chilly here. I was surprised today when I brought in my strawberries baskets for some warmth that a bumble bee came along too.
Here are some steps to this mixed media piece I thought I would share.

Building up the layers. Paper, paint, handwork and some stamping.
All sealed and ready to display.

I just love this saying. I mean I feel so peaceful when I think what it is like to be well with your soul. Well with life. In this mixed media piece I used shades of greens and burnt red. It I really like how it pops. Makes the statement. Not whispering it.

Believe Something Wonderful

Believe Something Wonderful
$30. during September30 in 30

I loved this quote. What would our day be like if we went about the moment thinking something wonderful was about to happen. And really many many things happen every moment. I get to see my family grow, learn and discover. The endless devotion of Lucy and Pickles our dogs. Automatic dishwashers and washer/driers...You get the point.
I hope these blues lift your spirits and you see something wonderful is about to happen.

Painting 7&8 Fell Behind Striving to Get Back

It all got away on me about day 9. I had some paintings based and working on. Then regular things called and I could ignore no more.  Wednesday/Thursday teaching at school, soccer practice and a Game . Though game rained out proved to be a good night to catch up on kids homework, get a head even, few loads of laundry and that took care of that night. I thought it would be a day or two and I would be back on track last Friday. But an unexpected visit from my mother n law took care of that day and that night we were going to see The Lion King. Saturday I am trying not to beat myself up over it and just kept saying I will catch up...homework again took the morning. Several projects for the triplets due at the end of the month and one we could just about knock out that day. So that is what I did. Not feeling myself and a bit over whelmed 'with all that needs to be done" but not really sure where to start. I turned to updating my Fall workshops and my newsletter. It didn't seem as tasking as getting to my painting. I am disappointed in myself. But beginning to feel OK with everything till this Monday morning I see it is the 16! Well that means this 30 day challenge is half way through and I am on painting 9. It knocked the wind out of me. I did manage to just push through as I knew I had these to paintings to finish. I am pleased with their out come. I am actually excited about finding inspiration for the next....but maybe Wednesday as I am meeting my 2nd great nephew for the first time who traveled in from Atlanta! Of course mom and dad...brother I saw a=on Sunday at Grammy camp. :)

Fall Chill and Chili Day 6 of 30 in 30

A step away from the blues today for day 6 painting of 30 in 30. With a bit of a chili in the air and chili in the pot ( a request from my son for dinner) I was drawn towards a tree in all its color.

Carry On-Day 5 of 30 in 30

Carry On
$30. 6" x 6" mixed media on basswood panel

In the day of the sail, the officer of the deck kept a watch on the weather constantly keeping an eye on any slight change of wind. When ever a good breeze came along, the order to 'carry on' would be given. This meant to hoist every bit of canvas the yards could carry.

Now a days the term "Carry On' means to continue with your work.

so I'm off to "carry On" in Leslie's 30 paintings in 30 days! What are you up to with your days lately?

The Pessimist complains about the wind;
the optimist expects it to change;
the realist adjusts its sail.

30 in 30 Day 3 -"Believe" - Anything is Possible

Believe by Susan Walker
$30. 6" x 6" mixed media on basswood panel
Click here to purchase

I chose "Believe" for my day 3 painting inspiration because it is something again I need to do. Believe in myself to get 30 paintings done in 30 days. To do it while still maintain my other obligations to family, home and work. Have loads of fun doing it.
This is the second painting with this color combination. One of my students in my class the other night had these and I really was drawn to them. Blue is not my first choice for inspiration and I wouldn't have naturally had gone with these  two shades of blue and an accent. I will probably try that 'formula' with other colors too.
