SOLD-Guardians- What an Honor for Me

I just received this email to my delight:

Susan – I just ordered Guardians online – I HOPE IT IS STILL AVAILABLE I MUST HAVE IT!  AND if it isn’t,  someone else if very lucky

  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. - L D

A sale is great of course but  in hearing my work has brought someone pleasure and will continue to is hard to put in words. The "must have" just awestruck me. Chocolate a must have (it is a source of nutrition after all) but art is a luxury in the big picture and to have someone feel so strongly in an image I have created, I am honored. The joy it will bring in her home or office ,well it is just what I hope my art will do for others.

Thank you for allowing me in your day to share what I love to do.

Day 5 'Guardians" in 30 paintings in 30 days

I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with birch-tree, or yellow birch,or an old acquaintance among the pines.-Henry David Thoreau

8" x 10" Mixed Media $53.

SOLD

Even though while I sit here, temperature outside is feeling like -9, I was inspired by all the snow. It can be so beautiful. I love the color of the sky how it reflects off the snow and bounces around.

These majestic guardians stand tall keeping watch.

I saw this little verse and right away I thought of ants. Yes the insect. Not that I have a particular care for the little bugs. But how little by little, grain by grain, step by step they make it across the yard or field to do their job. This mixed media artwork is a gentle reminder to just take it little by little in what we do. One step at a time gets you over the mountains or through the fields. I created this in shades butterscotch yellow, tan, off white with a touch of soft green. In the layers numbers also represent steps and if you look closely you will see little ants marching along.
Did you know the ant can lift 20 times its body weight?

Though still moves mountains little by little.

Imagine what we could do if we could move 20 times our body weight.

That's like lifting a 1 ton elephant!
I can't imagine all I would do with that strength. What would you do?

Preparing for this challenge I thought I would try to work around central theme. Pondering and pounding my brain trying to come up with something clever, fun and that I could see to the end I fell flat. To only get up and come back to why I create to begin with., To encourage and inspire others in their daily lives.
Through color, images and text. The world around us is constantly telling us what we need, why we need it, how to be better with this or that. I want my art to be viewed as a pleasure spot. Tucked away on a table , desk or prominently displayed to whisper or even shout joy and delight. May sound cheesy but I know I enjoy a word of encouragement and things that make me smile. I hope you find some of that too when you view my work.

In this piece I chose the butterfly to symbolize all the butterfly goes through just as we often do in our journey to happiness. This little verse will be a reminder too to do that the best way we can and be ourselves doing it. Something I find not to be always easy.

Do it-Day 1 of Thirty paintings in 30 days

I am a day later than many other artist who are participating in Leslie Saetas Thirty paintings in 30 days. My kids still had school off yesterday and we had some family over. So today is my first day.Actually it too got off to an unplanned start as school was cancelled. I had to regroup. But fortunately the kids played in the snow, some games and tv. After a late start and cleaning my desk I got to work.I thought the verse was appropriate for the beginning of what is my 3rd thirty in 30. "If you can Dream it, You can Do It."-Walt Disney, a dreamer who got things done. a lot of things.
Boy it was good to paint again!

More layers and texture is added. One of my favorites-bubble wrap.

Stamp and hand painting

 Stamp the verse directly

I like to carry everything around the edges too for a complete look. Sealed and ready to display or hang.
