DRAW the Power & Memory

“All art is but dirtying the paper delicately.” ― John RuskinThe Elements of Drawing

Drawing and doodling is gaining a bit more respect these days. Once considered useless and a sign of not paying attention is actually turning out to be the opposite.

You actually recall a lot of what is not even depicted in the drawing, sounds, smells, music. This is the added benefit to sketching on location, especially while traveling.I myself experience this as a page through old journals of mine.

Try it our for yourself. Grab a pen, a notebook, sketchbook, napkin, anything and try doodling while your out. Record a bit of your surroundings whether it is in drawing or in words. I think you will enjoy the experience in more than one way.

BOOK JOURNAL Page Prepin'

I got this cute little old book as a birthday gift from a dear friend. I knew by the time I got home with it I wanted to keep it in tack and make it an art journal. I am starting with painting the pages with  thin layer of gesso. This helps to soften the type on the book page and create a great background  as a starting point for any journaling a head. It will take pencil, ink or wet mediums. The gesso will also give some strength to the pages and binding of this oldie but cutie. This is a slow prep process but I keep it on my counter where as I go through out the day I can put a coat across the page, let it dry, do some more. I know I won't get the whole book done without starting into the juicy part of creating!
I hope you will give it a try too.

"Live Simply" can be quite a challenge these days. It was a fitting saying for me as I am into day 9 of Lesie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days.  I actually started o week late but have been painting away with bold mixed media and my quote collection.
I tend to work on a few pieces at a time and I have my limits going on right now! Her's some snippets and peak at what's on my desk right now.
Follow an attempt at a video sharing the process of  "Live simply"
Thanks for stopping.

Stop back to see where the journey takes me. :D
