Illustration Friday- adrift in pen and ink

adrift - theme from 021210 on Illustration Friday

I have been enjoying creating for Illustration Friday though i seem to miss the publish date during the week. So that is one area to improve on. I seem to loose my Thursdays in my week. I start the pen and ink illustration on Monday and find I haven't finished and posted by Thursday. (Friday is whne the new theme comes out).
My husband is a bass fisherman and I enjoy illustrating the subject. Oh more signs of spring on my mind!! (no not my husband here)
I tried to make the fish the focus with the detail.Though I feel the man is unfinished without all the detail.Something I plan on experimenting with.

Beautiful sketches. Your line work is very nice. I think the detailed fish works at bringing your attention and focus to the fish first and then to the man. Nicely done.

Great sketches. It does, however, look cold out on the boat. Hope they had fun fishing.

I agree with phthaloblu--my eye went right to the fish first, then the lines of the fish led me to the man's delighted expression!

They're both very well done. The eyes do go to the fish, but if the man feels unfinished, you could try putting more detail just in his face. That way we would see the fish, then his face. But, it is excellent as is!

These are wonderful. I agree - the fish definitely gets your attention first because of the level of detail, and the man has enough to make him interesting. nancy
